Automakers by Number of Safety Recalls

Ford Motor Company has had the highest number of safety recalls on average since 2010, totaling a count of 545 recalls. Despite this high number, Ford's frequent recalls indicate their commitment to addressing safety concerns for their consumers.

Forest River, specializing in large and complex RVs and trailers, is a close second with 527 recalls. They ranked first for recalls from 2015 to 2020, suddenly moving down to sixth place in 2021 when several manufacturers like Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler Trucks North America, and Chrysler overtook them.

Chrysler, now under Stellantis, is in third place with 514 recalls. They have frequently cited problems with their airbags, electrical systems, and powertrains in these recalls. Daimler Truck North America has 465 recalls, mainly related to airbags, along with steering and battery issues. General Motors, with 451 recalls, is in fifth place. There has been a decrease in recalls in recent years alongside increased sales, revealing a promising trend for General Motors.
