The U.S. is a popular destination for boaters with its pristine lakes, winding rivers, and miles of beautiful coastline. But which state is the boater’s dream? The team at SIYachts set out to answer that question. They considered the many factors boaters consider when deciding to buy a boat, when to set sail, and where to travel to for the best boating. Their ranking represents an average score of these many factors that include cost, amount of coastline and wet areas, number of marinas, number of boats owned in the state, hurricane risk, and average wind speed. The results placed one state above the rest and maybe the answer is no surprise: it’s Louisiana! With tons of lakes, rivers, and coastline there’s no shortage of water for boaters to explore. Combine this with favorable average temperatures, plenty of sunny days, and affordable boat maintenance costs, and it’s easy to see why Louisiana walked away as the winner.
