WhatsApp has been working on new text formatting options
that it has just launched to all its users on Android, iOS, Web, and Mac.
Until now, the formatting options that have been available to WhatsApp users are bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace. In addition to these, the four newly added ones include bulleted and numbered lists, block quotes, and inline code. These are meant to facilitate improved communication among users by enabling them to organize and emphasize specific information.
Bulleted lists are like any bullet points that break down
messages into lists for any purpose, for instance shopping or to-do. To begin
making a bulleted list in WhatsApp, you will simply need to type in the hyphen
symbol ( - ) followed by a space before you type the text. Numbered lists are similar,
except that they number the points – which is helpful when writing information in
a sequence, such as instructions. This format can be applied by typing a number,
then inserting a period followed by a space.
Block quotes is a type of format that highlights text, which
could be of help when trying to make a certain piece of information stand out
in a lengthy body of text. It can be applied by adding the “>” symbol
followed by a space before the text that you want to highlight. Incline code is
another option for highlighting text – especially useful for coders. To
highlight text using this format, you must enclose the text in the “`” symbol. For
instance, `hello!`
