Fandom is Launching New Generative AI Features to Provide Users with Easily Accessible Information - Visualistan -->

Fandom, the Fan wiki hosting site with 45 million wiki pages and over 350 million monthly visitors, plans to roll out generative AI features that it has previously tested. One of these features, ‘Quick Answers,’ has been Fandom’s most popular yet controversial Q&A tool, as users have claimed that it generates inaccurate information.

Quick Answers is Fandom’s most essential AI tool, as the primary reason why people visit the website is because they are looking for easily available information about specific fandoms. Quick Answers makes the desired information easily accessible by generating a Q&A-style dropdown that extracts the information into a bite-sized body of text.

However, Fandom’s community members have criticized the feature since it first appeared on the website, for providing inaccurate and even inappropriate responses in some cases. Taking the feedback into consideration, Fandom has decided to enable creators to opt out of the functionality, and allow admins and editors to review the AI generated answers so as to reduce any potential inaccuracies before they reach the members. Admins will also be able to use Quick Answers to manage their content by automating the formatting of their sites.

“Fandom is committed to providing the functionality they need to serve their communities better,” says the website’s vice president of community.

Fandom is also integrating AI in its Image Review process, in collaboration with Coactive AI, which would assist admins in automatically and efficiently removing inappropriate content.
