As a way to celebrate black history, TikTok has announced a
Black History Month program, which will highlight some of the top talent from
the black community in the app. This program is part of TikTok’s larger initiative
‘Visionary Voices’ that has been running for three years now – where TikTok shares
the best performing and most influential creators on its app.
TikTok’s 2024 #BlackTikTok Visionary Voices List shines a
spotlight on black creators, business owners, as well as industry disruptors that
have used their creativity to generate a positive influence across TikTok and other
platforms.
The black creators in the list are from a variety of fields
including beauty, education, health, fashion, and music. During the
month-long program, TikTok will emphasize on the work that these creators have
been doing, as well as make select creators a part
of the new ‘TikTok cinema advertising campaign.’
TikTok’s annual #ShopBlack program will be active throughout
the month too, showcasing Black-owned SMBs, as well as hosting physical events
in the US.
The activities do not end here – TikTok will also host “a
special advanced” theatre screening of the movie Bob Marley: One Love on the 14th
of February in Atlanta and LA. Lastly, in partnership with Black Girl Ventures,
TikTok will initiate a major program for small businesses, entrepreneurs and
content creators. The program, according to TikTok, will provide grants worthy
of up to $10,000 to selected participants, and put together business owners
with standout creators, which would help businesses strengthen their social
strategy in creative ways.
