Insta360’s new Ace and Ace Pro action cameras are now available to purchase, equipped with a flip screen that adds more utility – such as making it easier to frame vlogs and bike rides. The rest of the design of these devices is similar to the blocky design of GoPro’s Hero series.

The Ace camera starts from $379.99, while the Pro version is priced at $449.99. The specialty of the Pro camera includes a Leica Summarit lens, a large 1/1.3-inch image sensor for outstanding low-light performance, as well as recording up to 8K at 24 frames per second. On the other hand, the regular Ace camera features a smaller 1/2-inch image sensor and supports recording up to 6K at 30 frames per second. The Pro model can also capture additional nighttime detail and record daytime videos in Active HDR mode.

Both the devices are capable of shooting 4K at a high-speed 120 frames per second and capturing 48MP pictures. The new five-nanometer AI chips in the models powers features like PureVideo, that enhances low-light performance by denoising video in real time.

Additionally, there are several features in both the cameras that help save SD card space, such as the ability to pause a video recording without breaking the clip and cancel an active recording by holding the shutter button. Post recording, users can also switch from landscape to portrait frames or use a full square via the clip aspect ratio options.

The capabilities of the new Ace series don’t end here - the AI highlights assistant feature enables users to quickly find and clip out action shots from large video recordings, hence saving one from the trouble of transferring whole videos. The transferred footage on the smartphone can then be edited, using the AI Warp feature that can add a variety of effects to clips. According to Insta360, more of these features will be coming to its devices in the coming year.
