Since Meta launched Threads, it has been showing users’ posts
from the app in Instagram and Facebook feeds as a way of promoting the app and
the conversations that happen there. Meta is now enabling Threads users to opt
out of having their posts displayed on Facebook and Instagram in highlight
modules.
This initiative guarantees better privacy for users who don’t wish their Threads conversations to be seen outside of the app for any reason. The option is currently rolling out to some users in the latest version of the app who are able to access it in their Threads settings within the ‘privacy’ section.
It is also reported by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi
that Threads is testing the hashtags feature in the app, which is a commonly
used method on majority of the social media platforms for promoting and
discovering content, particularly Instagram and Twitter.
Further information from the preview suggests that Threads may implement a tag limit to reduce potential misuse of hashtags to make false or harmful information go viral. Unnecessary spread of information also often results in an influx of spammers and scammers, and therefore, could be tackled with tag limits as well.
