Following the announcement from Israeli Defence Forces on
Friday on expanding ground operations in Gaza, Israel has now completely cut
off all landline, cellular and internet communication services in Gaza.
One of the largest and only remaining Palestinian telecom services, Paltel, has recently been greatly impacted by intense airstrikes from the Israeli military, resulting in a total collapse of connectivity in the Gaza Strip. Previously, internet service from another large company, NetStream, has suffered total collapse.
Following these destructions, the Palestinian humanitarian
organization Red Crescent Society informed people with great concern that it
may not be able to provide emergency medical services due to loss of
communications services.
Earlier in the month of October, Israel cut off much of Gaza’s access to electricity, leading the citizens of Gaza to rely on other power sources like generators to maintain connectivity. However, with the bombardment getting heavier with each day, much of the supporting infrastructure in Gaza continues to be heavily destroyed.
