Recruiting and retaining Gen Z in the workforce is vital to the success of most businesses across the globe. In fact, job transitions are currently up 80% year over year for Gen Z. There is now doubt that this group of people has quickly become a major force in the modern workplace. However, companies are currently facing unrivaled challenges around Gen Z recruitment and retention. Nearly ¾ of hiring managers say that Gen Z is the most difficult generation to deal with in the workplace. The main factors contributing to this being post-COVID changes, unnecessary friction in the workplace, and some misaligned career expectations. Because of these qualms, early career turnover rates are affecting us more than we know.
It is going to take a village to keep Gen Z on payroll. Experts say that the keys are establishing clear expectations, offering mutual respect, nurturing meaningful connections, and focusing on genuine communication. Through these methods, workplaces won’t just have the ability to engage and retain Gen Z’ers. They will learn to properly handle the responsibility that they have to engage with this diverse group of workers both in and out of the office.
