Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan that was
launched to eight countries a few months back is already being terminated. The plan
allowed Xbox Game Pass members to share perks with up to four of their friends
or family members.
The Game Pass Friends & Family plan will officially come to an end on August 15th in all the eight countries, namely Ireland, Colombia, New Zealand, Sweden, Israel, Chile, Hungary, and South Africa, as revealed by a Microsoft spokesperson. Additionally, Microsoft has stopped accepting new registrations and member additions to existing plans.
Based off of the feedback and the company’s own experience with
regard to the offering, it plans to develop an offer that can be brought to
more players around the world. This means that people could expect an alternative
plan, perhaps with different pricing in the future.
Starting August 15th, existing members of the Game
Pass Friends & Family plan, including primary and secondary members, will
be offered Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes for their participation in the program.
Microsoft clarifies that members’ subscription “must be active on August 15,
2023, to be eligible.” The codes will be sent out to members on their Xbox
account on console and the Xbox app on PC, and must be redeemed using the same
account that was originally used to participate in the membership. All
participants in a member’s group plan will also receive the same offer.
