TikTok’s BeReal replica ‘TikTok Now,’ launched in last
September, will no longer continue as an app. Users of the app were informed of
the news via notifications mentioning the official message from TikTok’s parent
company ByteDance.

TikTok Now was primarily created to offer users the ability
to capture photos from their back and front cameras simultaneously and share
them with friends every day. The format was identical to BeReal, that was the
first platform before TikTok Now to offer the same functionality for social
connections and became popular for its unique purpose. The only way TikTok Now
was different from BeReal was that in addition to still photos, it allowed
users to capture and share up to 10-second-long videos.
With BeReal slowly losing its appeal, it seems like people
are no longer as interested in the back and front camera feature, which may be
the reason behind the discontinuation of TikTok Now. According to a New York
Times report, BeReal experienced a 61% drop its daily active users from October
2022 to March 2023 as per third-party data.
