While football is the most popular sport in the United States, it doesn't compare to the popularity of other sports around the world. AAA State of Play created an infographic highlighting the most popular sport in each country. Several sports, including soccer, cricket, baseball, rugby, basketball, ice hockey, Australian football, archery, boat racing, American football, Gaelic football, Mongolian wrestling, and windsurfing, are popular in at least one country globally.
Soccer is the most popular sport in 155 countries, while cricket is the most popular sport in countries like Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Nepal, Pakistan, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sri Lanka, and Trinidad and Tobago. Rugby is another sport popular in several countries, such as Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Wallis and Futuna, and Tonga. Soccer has the largest number of fans worldwide, with over 3.5 billion supporters, as per the World Atlas.
