Microsoft announced in a recent blog post that it is ending
support for monthly security updates in Windows 10. This means that the current
version of the client, Windows 10 22H2, will be the final version of the OS.
According to the company, Windows 10, that was first launched in 2015, will reach EOS in 2025 on 14th of October. “All editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date,” the blog post confirms.
In the second half of 2024, the company will begin launching
Windows 11 LTSC and will share further details of the release as it approaches
the release date. Microsoft has further recommended to those waiting for a
Windows 11 LTSC release, to start planning and testing their applications and
hardware on the current GA channel release, Windows 11, version 22H2.
Users needn’t look forward to more features in Windows 10,
which is why Microsoft is encouraging people to switch to Windows 11, which has
been available for more than a year and a half now. In addition to that, Microsoft
is advising both individual users and companies that will continue to use
Windows 10 for now, to “update to version 22H2 to continue receiving monthly
security update releases through October 14, 2025.”
