Meta’s latest messaging functionality ‘Channels’ was first
launched to Instagram, and is now being expanded to WhatsApp. The feature
provides the ability for users in a group to be updated on topics of shared interest.
We have been observing that Meta has lately begun to put more focus on private messaging than interactions within main feeds. This has also made it possible for brands and customers to have more personal interactions between them on Meta’s platforms, which contributes to the growth of businesses.
WhatsApp is continuing to advance as the most widely used
messaging app around the globe, which explains Meta's efforts in bringing all the
useful and community-focused features that facilitate discussions across the
app.
Within Channels, only the admins are capable of sending
messages, while other members can only read and react to those messages.
