Mental health is at the forefront more than ever right now, and people are struggling much worse depending where you're looking in the country. The team at Charlotte's Web used data coming from the 2022 County Health Rankings to determine where in the U.S. has the poorest mental health. On average in the United States, the number of mentally unhealthy days per person over the course of a 30 day period is 4.9 days, much lower than it is in some of the states with the toughest mental health battles.
Based on the findings from Charlotte's Web, it was found that the poorest mental health can be found in West Virginia (6.6 days), Louisiana (5.6 days), Alabama (5.6 days), Arkansas (5.6 days), and Kentucky (5.6 days). Not only that, but the data and research showed that of the top 50 U.S. counties with the poorest mental health, 30 of them (60%) were found in West Virginia.
