Collaborative Collection is Instagram’s latest DM feature that
provides the ability to save posts in group chats. These posts can be added or
removed by any of the group chat members.
Instagram has been attempting to increase social engagement
on its platform, and this is one of the ways that it is doing so. By saving
posts in a Collaborative Collection, users will have discussions around them,
while creating a shared space for things they like.
Direct messaging has become an increasingly used element on Instagram
between friends, as well as for the purpose of interacting with businesses on
the app. It is also more commonly used as compared to engaging within the main
feed, which has driven Meta to focus more on DM integrations and tools.
Other features that Meta has recently integrated into DMs on
Instagram include messaging Channels and receiving highlights of memories in
inbox. The company is also making sure to keep Facebook up to date with respect
to messaging, and has brought back Messenger in the app.
