Today, there is more than 3.7 million square miles of land across the United States, and it can come in a wide variety of different forms, including being used for parks, farmland, commercial and residential real estate areas, and many more. From the team at Madison Trust comes this new infographic that looks at who owns the most land in the United States, utilizing data from the Land Report 100, an annual ranking of land ownership. Per their research, it was found that only four different groups or individuals own at least two million acres of land across the country, a group that includes the Emmerson Family with 2.3 million acres, John Malone with 2.2 million acres, the Reed Family with 2.1 million acres, and Ted Turner with 2 million acres. The Emmerson Family not only owns the most land in the United States, but their 2.3 million acres, which spreads across Oregon, California, and Washington, is all home to 14 different sawmills across the country.
