Across the United States, Maine is considered to be the best at recycling, with an impressive recycling rate of 74%. This is so high, in fact, that Maine is the only state in the United States with a recycling rate above 62%. This was determined via research conducted by the team at Bottle Store, with this infographic that analyzes which states are the best and worst at recycling across the United States. In comparison, the state with the worst rate of recycling was Alaska, with an overall recycling rate of just 16%. Other states with very low rates of recycling include Mississippi (17%), Tennessee (22%), Alabama (22%), Ohio (27%), Kentucky (24%), Louisiana (26%), New Mexico (27%), Arkansas (28%), and Oklahoma (29%). Alaska's very low rate is partly due to residents of the state not having access to curbside recycling. Where did your home state fall on this ranking of the states that are the best and worst at recycling?
