A study from the National Sleep Foundation was able to determine that 59% of middle school students and 87% of high school students actually get less than the recommended amount of sleep on a daily basis when it comes to school nights. Many would agree that perhaps school days start too early, so the research team at AAA State of Play set out to find out with this new infographic, to determine the average school start times in every state. According to their research, it was found that the earliest start time for elementary school students was 7:40 AM in Mississippi, while Louisiana had the earliest start times for both middle school (at 7:37 AM) and high school (at 7:30 AM). Their research also showed that aside from Louisiana, the only two other states to place in the top five on multiple rankings were Mississippi with the earliest elementary school start time and the 3rd earliest time for middle school (7:44), and Alabama, who ranked third for elementary school (7:49 AM) and fifth for middle school (7:49 AM).
