Google announced a new safety measure in its search engine at its recent ‘Safer Internet Day’ event, which automatically prevents viewing of graphically disturbing content such as pornographic or violent images in the search results.
This new default safety setting is part of Search’s
SafeSearch menu. Its function implies that Google Search images that are
explicit will be blurred even for users that don’t have SafeSearch
enabled. However, the option can be manually turned off only by users aged
above 18 years. Once the whole SafeSearch fucntionality is turned off, the most relevant results are
displayed without any content being hidden.
The new safety measure will be launched in the coming
months, according to Google.
