TikTok is reportedly developing a new monetization option for
creators on its platform, that will allow them to set prices on their content. In
other words, creators will be able to charge fee from their audience to view
exclusive content.
The company is also experimenting with a redesigned fund program for creators that it first launched in 2020. The program is currently being tested with creators in France and Brazil and will be rolled out to creators in the US next month.
As of yet, TikTokers haven’t really felt happy with TikTok’s
monetization efforts, including the creator fund that some creators have found
as “limiting” in terms of the amount of money they can earn through it. Similarly,
some TikTokers have reported getting only a few dollars for their videos with
millions of views.
The revamped fund program is therefore expected to provide
more to creators than what they had been previously receiving. Moreover, to be
able to sign up for the updated fund, creators will be required to have at least
100,000 followers.
