Accutron watches featured unique designs that sparked interest from a wide pool of customers, some famous wearers including Joe DiMAgio and Elvis! The strong and attractive design of these watches inspired many other designers, including Tinker Hatfield who went on to create the Nike Air Max 1 Hatfield was an architect who designed buildings for the company, but switched to designing shoes in the 1980s. After being influenced by the strong designs of the Accutron Spaceview, Hatfield was inspired to design shoes that mirrored these same style choices. Most notably, Hatfield wanted to expose the inner workings of a sneaker by creating a “window” to see inside.
