After launching
the verification process for business accounts, Twitter is now rebranding
its ‘Blue for Business’ subscription offering to ‘Verification for
Organizations,’ where businesses can sign up by adding their Twitter account
handles and contact details to the list.
Subscribing to Verification for Organizations will enable businesses to acquire their official gold checkmarks, square shaped profile tiles, as well as affiliation badges for accounts affiliated with the businesses, such as employee accounts. These features will be available at Twitter’s self-serve administrative portal.
With the whole process of paying for verification also comes
a downside, where any account on Twitter can achieve verification
authentication by offering some amount of money to Twitter, which makes the act
look rather meaningless and inauthentic. This is, however, not the case with
the current Twitter Blue sign-ups. Perhaps Twitter will add some proper authentication
tools to the gold checkmark offering as it develops it in the future.
Twitter has already launched early access to Verification for Organizations via the waitlist at https://t.co/wNdVPXHQRq. The company plans to launch the offering soon, starting with rolling out access to selected accounts in the coming weeks.
