According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly
developing a new three-in-one in-house chip that would power cellular, Wi-Fi,
and Bluetooth functionalities on its devices.
In addition to the multi-functionality chip, Apple is reportedly replacing its existing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip from Broadcom with a chip of its own that it may plan to launch in 2025.
It is expected that Apple may also produce its own cellular
modems in replacement of Qualcomm’s modems. Qualcomm on the other hand predicts
that it would have the “vast majority of share of 5G modems for the 2023 iPhone
launch.” Based on the company’s statement, a Bloomberg report suggests that
Apple will not start using its own modems until before the end of 2024 or early
2025.
