Apple has released job listings in India for stores that it
plans to open in various parts of the region. The job listings contain openings
for 12 full-time and part-time retail positions, including store leaders, senior
managers, Genius Bar workers, and more. Five Indian citizens have reported the
news of their hiring by the tech giant via LinkedIn.
It has been reported that Apple is developing a store ranging between 10,000 - 12,000 square-foot in New Dehli, among many others. Apple, however, has not announced when it plans to officially launch these store openings.
In 2021, Tim Cook expressed the company’s desire to open its
own stores in India, to prevent third-party retailers from selling Apple
products in the country. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the plans could
not be executed around that time.
Although Apple has not yet started selling its products in
India directly, the company has been manufacturing the products in the country
since 2017. Apple has also been seen attempting to loosen its relations with
China in terms of manufacturing, and move its manufacturing activities to India
instead, where manufacturing costs are much cheaper as compared to China. Moreover,
India’s large smartphone market makes it an even more attractive choice for Apple
to market its phones and other products.
