When FIFA 2022 started, there was 0.5 percent probability of
Morocco to win. Being in a group with strong teams like Belgium and Croatia, Morocco
were 200/1 outsiders to win the 2022 Soccer World Cup. Knocking out Spain in
the round of 16 followed by the defeat of Portugal in quarterfinals, this African
country is now just one step away from reaching the first World Cup final.
As the infographic shows, it would not be the first one only for Morocco but for a team from Africa. Morocco has already made its continent proud with its presence in the semifinals, as it is the first time any African country has managed to reach this far. Morocco is going to be breaking new ground for Africa on the world’s biggest football competition by playing against France on Wednesday. Although the fans have quite high hopes that Moroccan national team could go a couple of steps further and become world champions, but even a defeat to France and getting the third place would be great pride for the country that is currently at the 22nd rank in the FIFA world rankings.
