Tesla latest wireless charging mat ‘Wireless Charging
Platform’ can be now pre-ordered for $300. The mat comes with a removable
magnetic stand and can allow up to three devices to be placed on it.
Tesla claims that the charger has been developed using its FreePower wireless charging technology that is the source of the 30 Qi charging coils placed underneath the charger’s fabric cover. Tesla’s FreePower technology is similar to Apple’s AirPower that was only announced to the world but never introduced.
While Apple announced that the AirPower could be used to
charge the Apple Watch, Tesla’s charger does not offer the ability to charge Apple,
Galaxy, or Pixel watches. However, like the AirPower, the FreePower charger
allows for devices to be placed anywhere on its surface without precise
alignment.
According to Tesla, its Wireless Charging Platform will begin shipping in February of 2023.
