Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is in the
process of developing a new line of external monitors, including an updated
version of its Pro Display XDR, that the company first launched in 2019. The current
version of the Pro Display XDR is priced at $4,999. It features a 32-inch 6K
LCD panel with up to 1,600 nits of brightness.
The report suggests that Apple has integrated its own chips in the computers, like how it added the A13 bionic chip of iPhone 11 to its Studio Display that led to special features like Center Stage, spatial audio, and “Hey Siri” voice commands.
In addition to the Pro Display XDR, Apple is rumoured to
also launch a 27-inch mini-LED display with ProMotion as soon as in the first
quarter of 2023. The upcoming Mac Pro is also in the works, as per Gurman’s
report, that was expected to come out by now, but some changes in its features have
caused delays in its development.
It is also reported that Apple will likely ship its new Mac Pro out first before the new Pro Display XDR. The Mac Pro will come with the latest M2 Ultra chip containing up to 24 CPU cores and 76 graphics cores, with the capability to support 192GB of memory at minimum.
