Ahead of the holiday season, YouTube has grabbed the opportunity
to engage its audience with online shopping. The company has launched a new
feature called ‘From YouTube to You,’ that is aimed at facilitating people with in-app
shopping via videos, livestreams, and Shorts featuring content creators that
showcase various products and offerings to potential customers.
The initiative is part of YouTube’s broader plans to promote
eCommerce, including in-stream shopping, as well as monetization options for
creators.
In-stream shopping is gradually becoming a popular trend and
has shown to be particularly successful in China, where it has managed to drive
sales of hundreds of billions of dollars. With other platforms like TikTok and
Instagram experimenting with their own in-stream shopping integrations, it
seems like the feature could become a valuable social media element in the
US as well.
