Twitch streamers have always been an interesting lot. Scams, drama and sexism play a part in the Twitch universe right along with the games they play. But who is making the most money here? According to the graph from the team at VR.space these are the Twitch streamers that make the most money. Out of 50 there are only 2 that identify as female. One streamer at number #38 on the list, trainwreckstv has 1.8 million followers and made $1,572,92.37 from 2019-2021. He was temporarily banned from twitch for only 5 days in 2017 for going on a sexist shaming rant about the streamer at number #39 on the list, Pokimane. He claimed that she was stealing views from more deserving users with better content just because of how she dressed and what she streamed.
Many female broadcasters often report unwanted advances and inappropriate conduct from their followers. Twitch boss Matthew DiPietro says the industry needs to do more to protect its users from online sexism in gaming. Whatever that is, its clear this is a male dominated streaming platform with the best performers raking in millions.
