Instagram to Enable Users to Repost Content in Main Feed - Visualistan -->

    Social Items

Instagram is working on a new ‘repost’ option that would allow users to reshare posts in the main Feed. The reshared posts would appear in a separate tab on a user’s profile. According to Instagram, the option offers the same functionality as resharing in Stories does, and would mainly help credit original creators for their work, while also enabling people to share what resonates with them.

While it might sound like an interesting addition, integrating resharing into the main Feed would potentially make it harder for people to follow through the content that they actually wish to view from friends and others. It would likely result in the Feed appearing too crammed, and users might not be really happy with that, considering how Instagram’s latest algorithm changes have been disappointing to many.

Perhaps Instagram is focusing a bit too much on this whole ‘engagement with relevant and engaging content’ thing, while overlooking what users want from the app. In Instagram’s defence, Adam Mosseri claims that most personal sharing across the app now happens through DMs and Stories anyway.
