Meta is launching a new major update that allows users to switch
between their Facebook and Instagram profiles. Both the apps will have a new account
switcher option displayed, where users will also be able to see the number of notifications
they have received on each platform.
This looks like a handy option, since users frequently switch from one app to another. It would also help them keep track of the latest updates with regard to their activity in each app. In Meta’s words, “Many people use more than one of our apps to pursue different interests, reach a broader audience or share different aspects of who they are with different groups of people.”
In addition to that, Meta is releasing a new account
registration and login update, which it has created to simplify the process of logging
in and creating new accounts across Facebook and Instagram. “People new
to our products can create a Facebook or Instagram account, and then use that
account to sign up for additional ones. And people who have both a Facebook and
an Instagram account can now easily use login information from one app to
access the other, as long as their accounts are in the same Accounts Center,”
says Meta.
The company also announced that these changes are not just
limited to Facebook and Instagram but will be expanded to other technologies of
Meta as well.
