Meta has launched a variety of new updates for Reels, the TikTok-like feature on Instagram, as the feature continues to grow more popular on the platform. The updates include the ability to create longer clips, new creative tools, and discovery features.
Previously, users could create up to 60 seconds long Reels
clips, but will now be allowed to extend the duration of their clips to up to
90 seconds, which is probably the best news among the rest of the updates.
A couple of new creative tools are also accessible within Reels, including new Stickers and a Sound Sync option. The Stickers can be added in the videos to make them more engaging, like the ones already available on Instagram Stories, such as the poll, quiz and emoji slider stickers. The Sound Sync option is designed to help with automatic syncing of a clip to a selected music track.
A new remixing tool, Templates, is built to help create a
Reel by re-using the same structure as another Reel video. The template would
pull in the audio and clip sequence, while also allowing you to customize the
format using your own content.
A new audio import option is also making its way into Reels,
which means that users will be able to upload their own audio directly within
the Reels creation process. Moreover, on Facebook Reels, users now have the
option of Voiceovers to add narrations to their videos.
To improve discovery of Reels videos, Meta is rolling out
suggested Reels in Feed and has also expanded the feature in Watch. Additionally,
users can recommend their Reels on Facebook as well, which would maximize the
reach of their content.
