This infographic shows the increase in solar panel efficiency over time and it is fascinating to see how far we have come in this world in creating solar power. Green energy and renewable energy is great for the environment, and there are hundreds of thousands of uses for solar power across the globe. More and more households are adding solar panels to their rooftops as energy prices soar. The team at solarpower.guide made this timeline starting in 1883 with the inventor Charles Fritts who created the first solar cell using selenium. The cell had an efficiency of less than 1%. If we could generate ANY efficiency in the 1800s from a thin single piece of gold, I believe one day we will have much more success. The timeline here stops in 2019 where solar cells got up to 39.2% efficiency . It is only a matter of time before efficiency keeps going up until it reaches 100%.
