In other parts of the world, the pancake might have a look that might be different than what many are used to seeing. Looking at this pancake guide from Kulick's Pancake Recipes there are many interesting facts about these sweet, universally loved sweets. In Sweden, they create a pancake made with whipped pork blood, eggs, water or beer, and flour. Over in Japan, they have created a soufflé-style pancake that has a texture that is described as soft, cotton-candy-like interior with a crispy outside. In the US and in several other countries, you can see pancakes used as buns in the McGriddle sandwich at McDonalds. In the 1930's an issue of Vogue claimed that pancakes were actually not worth eating due to them being difficult. Thank goodness that view has changed and we can freely find them easily when desired. No matter what the pancake has for toppings, or even in the batter, it is safe to say the love of pancakes is not going away.
