Twitter is Testing a New Presentation Format for its Explore Page that Resembles TikTok’s Format - Visualistan -->

Twitter seems to be experimenting with a TikTok-like format for its Explore page. Social media expert Matt Navarra noticed the update and showed users what it looks like. A ‘For You’ and ‘Trending’ page appears on Twitter’s Explore page, which is the same as TikTok’s outlook.

The For You feed shows a full screen feed with tweets displayed in the same way that videos are displayed on TikTok. Moreover, the tweets in this feed are mostly video-based.

About the update, Twitter stated that it is testing a “revamped, more personalized Explore page” with the purpose of providing users with up-to-date content based on popularity and interests. The test has been going on since last December and is now being rolled out to more users, which could suggest that initial attempts of the test had been successful, which is why Twitter is considering expanding it.

Perhaps separating multiple tweets down into a single tweet per frame showcase could attract users’ attention to tweet content and result in improved recommendations. In that case, adopting a new presentation layout could move tweet discovery on Twitter in another direction.
