In its annual Partner Summit this year, Snapchat announced some cool, new updates. These include advanced AR tools for brands, a small drone called ‘Pixy’ that can capture and save your photos and videos on Snapchat Memories for you, a 3D asset manager platform, and new creative tools.

Of course, we are most curious to discover everything about the most interesting product, the Pixy drone, first. This product is a creation of Zero Zero Robotics, that Snapchat partnered with last year. The drone costs $230 and is small enough to fit in your pocket. It is initially being launched in the US and France.

You can easily carry the Pixy drone with you anywhere you go. Its technology will let you capture photos and videos while it flies some feet above you. And that doesn’t end here! Pixy will also save your time by uploading the content that it captures on your Snap Memories, so you can access it anytime you want.

As for its evolving AR tools that are Snapchat’s key feature, the company has considered offering better AR experiences to businesses in particular. Brands can now access new AR shopping templates in the Lens Web Builder, and a new image processing tool that transforms existing product photography into AR-ready assets. This in turn will enhance the try-on Lens experiences for users who shop on Snapchat. As more brands turn to this tool to showcase their products, it could become a significant product discovery experience within the app.

In addition to this, Snapchat is working on a 3D asset manager platform that will help brands create fully digital versions of their products for display. Moreover, creators on Snapchat can expect advanced editing tools offered via a new feature called Director Mode that Snapchat shared a preview of. It includes dual camera controls that can create 360-degree content by using the front and back facing cameras simultaneously.

Snapchat seems to be doing pretty well in the AR and VR market. With the company attracting more than 75% of audience aged between 13-34 years in over 20 countries, and having over 600 million monthly active users, there is no doubt that it is currently one of the leading platforms in the social media and digital world.
