In 2021, California's top export was tree nuts, with an approximate export value of $7,757.9 million. Across all 50 states, this was by far the largest export value for a state's top export, however, each state still saw extremely high value. The other two states in the top three, in terms of states with the highest export value were Illinois and Iowa, which both saw soybeans as their top export, with export values of $3,623.9 million and $3,339 million respectively. This infographic uses data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which also showed that soybeans were the top export in 14 of the 50 U.S. states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Tennessee.
