Who are the United States top polluters when it comes to green gas emissions? According to a report from the Greenhouse 100 Polluters Index, emissions in 2019 were recorded and ranked by CO2 metric tons. There are ten different categories of industrial sectors that include power plants, petroleum and natural gas manufacturers, chemicals, waste, refineries, metals, minerals, and pulp and paper. This graph from SolarPower.guide shows the top 50 companies responsible for the highest amount of pollution. The largest contributor on the list is out of Texas and they also happen to be the United States largest power generator including natural gas, nuclear power, solar power and battery and energy storage. The Vistra Energy company released a carbon footprint equivalent to 106 million metric tons of greenhouse gas in 2019. The top ten companies are as follows:
