SEMRush has shared a list of the most visited websites in
December of 2021 in the US. As expected, websites like Google, YouTube,
Facebook, and Amazon made it to the top of the list. These are followed by Wikipedia,
Walmart, Instagram, ESPN and others.
Specifically, in terms of traffic, however, Reddit was found to be ahead of most other social platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
Data in relation to web traffic does not take app use into
account and shows how people come across social media content via web browsers
and how they search for and access information across each platform. For example,
85% of YouTube’s traffic comes via desktop. This information can help platforms
design strategies that can effectively target users, such as planning ads that
align with users’ desktop search experience in relation to exploring the
platform.
The data shared by SEMRush can be helpful in terms of
learning about overall trends on the most popular websites and adopting
effective digital marketing strategies.
