Dangerous drivers can be on the road in every season but when the road conditions are bad in the winter, driving can be even more dangerous. You may think that these dangerous conditions would be bad in states that get the most snowfall but this infographic from Teletrac Navman shows that there are actually more fatal car accidents during winter in southern states. In 2019 Chattanooga, Tennessee had the most fatal accidents per 100,000 residents. Followed by Atlanta, Georgia, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Jacksonville, Florida. Ice and snow on the road are the biggest dangers for drivers along with reduced visibility. Looking at the graphic we can see that Wyoming was the state with the highest fatality rate with 4.65 deadly accidents per 100,000 during winter. Knowing how to drive slowly, cleaning all the snow and ice from your car and windows and checking on your tire pressure throughout the winter months are all things you can do that will help keep you safe on the road during winter.
