TikTok is offering more transparency to its users in terms
of user interest, by bringing back the option that enables seeing who views
your profile.
This is an opt-in functionality which shows a list of people
who view your profile in the app particularly over the preceding 30 days.
There’s a catch to it, though: if you enable the option for
yourself, then others will also be able to see when you view their profiles.
Back when TikTok launched this option for the first time, the purpose behind it was to increase engagement in the app. The functionality was taken off early last year when the platform was started being scrutinized for its data sharing processes.
While this functionality may not bring much to TikTok in
terms of value, it may still increase network connections by providing users with
some additional insight into who visits their profiles.
One way that this can be used to a creator’s advantage is
that it can help them get in touch with any aspiring influencers that may have
checked out their profiles.
In a nutshell, this new insight tool on TikTok can be
described as stalker tracking, perhaps. TikTok is currently working on the
functionality and has shared no plans of releasing it as of yet.
