Meta has launched a new feature known as ‘Year in Review’ on Facebook and one of its owned applications, Instagram. This feature lets you share an overview of the important moments that you shared on Facebook and Instagram and revive the memories of 2021.
On Instagram, every user can see their personalized year right on top of their feed along with an option of ‘View Playback’. If you like how your memory highlights from the entire year look, you can share it in your story. The function simply works by using the story archives on your profile and randomly choosing up to 10 different stories that you’ve posted as a summary of your year.
Whereas, on Facebook, the ‘Year Together’ feature uses the highlights from ‘friends, feelings places, and people’ that you interacted with on the platform during 2021. Seeing these types of highlights are surely a bit schmaltzy. Since users are seen to engage with the ‘On This Day’ reminders on Facebook as every year passes by, this feature is expected to gain more attention on Facebook.
On the other hand, it could be a bit annoying for some people who don’t want to engage with this new feature. As per the reports, Instagram’s ‘Playback’ feature will stay on the platform for several weeks however, the ‘Year Together’ feature on Facebook is available till 30th December 2021.
