Lately, a rumor has been going about related to Apple, where
the tech giant is suspected to manufacture its iPhone 15 Pro models without sim
cards.
The rumor further suggests that Apple has advised major
carrier companies to prepare for a future of smartphones with eSIM by September
of 2022. An eSIM is a digital SIM that can be enabled with a cellular plan.
Based on some legitimate information shared by a tipster, it is predicted that carries in the US will start offering select iPhone 13 models without nano-SIM cards in the second quarter of 2022.
Currently, iPhone 13 models at Apple stores and Apple.com are
sold without nano SIM cards. Users are supposed to activate a cellular plan via
eSIM by following the instructions displayed on the phone’s screen.
Since eSIM service is not available in all countries, it is
expected that iPhones with SIM card slots would remain available in some
markets. eSIM service is, nevertheless, expanding rapidly; there are over 100
carriers offering the service worldwide, while other companies like Three in UK
and Vodafone in New Zealand planning to offer it in 2022.
Apple has been planning for its iPhone to look like a "single slab of glass” and it looks like the removal of the nano SIM card is the company’s step towards its envisioned design of the phone. The removal of SIM card will not only improve the phone’s water resistance ability, but will also contribute to more internal space.
I am in agreement with recent rumors regarding the removal of the physical SIM card tray. In February, I had shared the following information below: https://t.co/zOyeJr0V1d
