In today’s work environment, employees and their employers are enjoying the benefits of remote work. It’s a switch that took us by surprise at the beginning for the COVID pandemic in 2020, but in most ways the surprise has been a pleasant one.
Employees are enjoying the ability to work from their own devices with ample workspace. They’re still meeting deadlines and are able to do so with fewer interruptions. They’re motivated and more satisfied in their current positions.
Employers are reaping the benefits as well with lower turnover rates and lower overhead costs.
However, as with anything new, there are a few hurdles to step over. One of the biggest issues in the current work environment is a lack of trust and resulting micromanagement.
AI technology can help to diminish this issue by automating some processes, and employers can also help by doing a few things really well. Employers can over communicate, to ensure that expectations are understood. They can encourage self-care, they can switch from a focus on output rather than hours, and they can maintain open communication through utilization of AI.
An environment of trust and cooperation is one where a business can thrive.
