Instagram’s newly launched badges for Live broadcasts have
been available to selected creators on the platform for the past few months. Now,
all eligible profiles in the US will be able to access the badges, which will
be displayed alongside comments.
The Livestream badges will appear any time a commenter on an eligible profile’s Live pays to add 'extra flair' to their contribution. The badges range from $0.99 for one heart, to $4.99 for three and can be purchased from Instagram directly. The revenue generated from them will go back to the creator after any fee cut.
As a result of these badges, not only creators can financially
benefit from them, but viewers can also get a chance to have their comments highlighted
and receive attention from their favorite streamers in the form of shoutouts or
other interaction.
Profiles that are eligible for the feature, but not yet
approved for monetization can visit the new ‘Apply for Monetization’ option in their
IG dashboard to enable their access to badges.
The criteria for eligibility, as explained by Instagram,
includes being aged over 18, owning a Creator or Business account in the app, having
over 10k followers, and being compliant with the platform’s various partner
monetization policies and community guidelines.
Live badges is a very useful tool for regular streamers on
the app who wish to build an audience and make money through livestreaming.
