Instagram is globally rolling out a new Story feature called
the Add Yours sticker that has been in testing since a month. The feature is
designed to boost engagement with Stories, as it creates an interesting thread
of replies to the Stories. Here’s how:
You will add the Add Yours sticker to your Story, and add a
prompt in it, for instance ‘favorite sunset photo’. In response to the prompt, other
people who view your Story will be able to add their own image according to the theme.
All the users who respond to the Story will be added to the profile bubble listing on the sticker. This listing can be viewed by anyone who wishes to all other responses to the prompt.
The feature is pretty cool, except that it isn’t Instagram’s
original innovation, since it’s quite similar to TikTok’s Duet feature. The Duet
chain on TikTok is created in a similar way, when users interact with content
based on a certain theme.
It seems like Facebook is trying hard to draw young users’
attention to its services, especially Instagram, considering its rival app
TikTok’s enormous growth within the community of younger people. Facebook’s own
app has also been introducing features that are more relevant to the current
trends, and for that, the company has copied quite a few of Snapchat and TikTok’s
features.
