Facebook is currently the most popular social media platform in the world, according to recent research by the team at Semrush.com. With 2.797 billion monthly active users, Facebook tops other popular social platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Of the nine most popular social media platforms from around the globe, five of them come from the United States and four others come from China.
Based on this data and infographic from Semrush, the five most popular social media platforms out there today, based on their number of monthly active users, are Facebook (2.797 billion), YouTube (2.291 billion), 2 billion (WhatsApp), Facebook Messenger (1.3 billion) and Instagram (1.287). Aside from these five, the only other platform to have more than one billion active users on a monthly basis is WeChat with 1.225 billion.
