On Thursday, at a Connect event of Facebook, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced its new name i.e., “Meta”. On Twitter, Mark Zuckerberg owns a handle named @meta whereas, the website “meta.com” now redirects the users to Facebook’s Welcome page.
It is believed that Zuckerberg wants Facebook to not only be known as a social media platform but he wants to build it as a metaverse. Facebook CEO’s blog post on Thursday said that “Starting with our results for the fourth quarter of 2021, we plan to report on two operating segments: Family of Apps and Reality Labs”.
He also added, “We also intend to start trading under the new stock ticker we have reserved, MVRS, on December 1. Today’s announcement does not affect how we use or share data.”
