After testing its new Super Follow option for the past few months,
Twitter has finally released the feature for its iOS version. Super Follow is accessible
for selected creators in the US for now, who can now charge a monthly fee for
exclusive, extra tweet content for their most devoted fans.

With Super Follows, creators will have the opportunity to
get more engaging on Twitter and build a stronger member community.
According to Twitter, Super Follow will have a monthly
subscription of $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99. Followers, as a result, will get access
to additional behind-the-scenes content from the creators, as well as “unfiltered
thoughts, early previews and subscriber-only conversations.”
97% of the payments collected through Super Follow will go to the creators. After they reach a limit of $50k, the amount for them will drop to 80%, and Twitter will receive a larger percentage from then on.
Twitter also provided a revenue breakdown example to explain
how the payment is split based on the additional charges and considerations.
Even though a significant portion of the fee will be taken
by Twitter and Apple, creators will still be able to make a big amount for themselves.
The way Super Follow works is that users will first sign up
to become Super Followers. After that, creators will be allowed to use a new
option to share their tweets as normal, or exclusively to their Super Followers.
These exclusive tweets will be flagged as a way of letting the members know
that the content is only visible to them.
Super Follows is only available to a small number of
creators for now, but Twitter plans to expand its access soon. The current
criteria for a creator to access the Super Follow option includes having 10K or
more followers, being 18 years old or older, and having a record of tweeting at
least 25 times within the last 30 days.
